Effect of Montmorillonite and Carbon Black Mixture on Production Performance,Egg Quality,Serum Biochemistry and Antioxidant Capacity of Wannan Yellow Chicken
[Objective]The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of montmorillonite and carbon black mixture(MMT-CB)on production performance, egg quality, serum biochemical indicators and antioxidant capacity of Wannan Yellow chickens.[Method]A total of 6 480 30-week-old Wannan Yellow chickens were randomly divided into three groups with six replicates in each group and 360 chick-ens in each replicate. The control group was fed with basal diet,MMT-CB 1 group and MMT-CB2 group were fed with diets supplemented with 0.1%MMT-CB 1 and 0.1%MMT-CB2 in the basal diet,respec-tively.The trial period was 56 d.[Result]① Compared with the control group, diets supplemented with MMT-CB significantly increased egg production rate(P<0.05),diets supplemented with MMT-CB had no significant effects on the average egg weight, fertilization rate, hatching rate and healthy chick rate(P>0.05),while there was a trend of decreasing the feed-to-egg ratio in the stage of 28-56 d(P<0.01).② Diets supplemented MMT-CB significantly increased egg protein height(28 d,56 d),Haugh units(28 d,56 d),and thick albumen ratio(28 d,P<0.05),and significantly decreased thin albumen ratio of eggs at 28 d(P<0.05).In addition,MMT-CB 1 significantly decreased eggshell thickness of eggs at 56 d(P<0.05).③ Diets supplemented MMT-CB significantly decreased the serum triglyceride content, and MMT-CB 1 significantly increased the serum total protein level(P<0.05).④ Diets supplemented MMT-CB significantly increased the se-rum glutathione peroxidase activity and total antioxidant capacity(P<0.05).[Conclusion]In conclu-sion,dietary MMT-CB supplementation can improve the feed-to-egg ratio and egg quality, and has ben-eficial effects on the protein metabolism, fat metabolism and antioxidant capacity of Wannan Yellow chicken.
