Identification,Processing,and Value Analysis of Guizhou Wild Vegetables from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China
Thanks to its complex and varied geographical environment,Guizhou,located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau,has long celebrated the richness and diversity of wild vegetables available.People of all eth-nic groups often identify edible wild plants by their appearance,growing season,among other things.Due to the abundance of perennial plants and strong seasonality in wild vegetables,there are different types of wild vegeta-bles available for harvesting for most of the year.Even in seasons with low yields,there are processed and stored wild vegetables ready for consumption,to the extent that before the 1980s,in some ethnic minority areas in southeastern and southern Guizhou,people did not grow vegetables and only relied on wild vegetables.In addition to their role in satisfying hunger,wild vegetables possess a range of other beneficial properties,inclu-ding medicinal,nutritional,feeding,and ornamental values.Therefore,fully understanding the resource advan-tages of wild vegetables in Guizhou is of great significance for the economic development of mountainous areas in Guizhou.
