On the Role of Cultural Ecosystem Services in Rural Tourism Development—Taking Huangzhang Village in Anhui Province as an Example
It is imperative to investigate and capitalize on the role of cultural ecosystem services in rural tourism,along with the mechanisms through which they operate.This article takes Huangzhang Village in Fei-dong County,Anhui Province as an example,and uses literature analysis,field research,participatory observa-tion,semi-structured interview methods,and composite ecosystem theory to reveal the coupling relationship and interactive mechanism between rural tourism development and cultural ecosystem services.The study concludes that the coupling relationship between rural tourism development and rural ecosystem cultural services can be described as follows:"development impetus—value perception—coupling coordination—compound gain."Furthermore,the study finds that cultural ecosystem services permeate rural tourism space and promote the evo-lution of three types of rural space,namely"social space—ecological space—cultural space."The value of cultural services provided by rural ecosystems is perceived,developed,and utilized by tourists and residents in the development of rural tourism.This plays an important role in realizing an increase in farmers'income and the growth of rural industries that enrich the local population,as well as an upgrade in the level of rural indus-trial development.The performance of cultural ecosystem services in the context of tourism development in Huangzhang Village is exemplary,and the functioning of these services is instrumental in facilitating the high-quality development of rural tourism.
