A Study of Linear Combination Approach to Improving the Phase Noise of a Signal
The performance of the reception or detection system is directly influenced by the signal quality of the reference source.Therefore,it's an important tactic to ameliorate the performance of the system by improving the signal quality of the reference source.Aiming at the signal combining method that has been practically verified but insufficient theoretical explanation,the relationship between Signal-to-Noise Raio(SNR)and signal phase noise is established,and then deriving improving phase noise into improving signal SNR,ultimately translating it into the problem of how to ensure that the power of the signal noise component remains unchanged,which is detailedly analyzed.Meanwhile,the necessary conditions to ensure that the noise power remains unchanged during the signal combining process as well as the phase tolerance analysis method to achieve the highest combining efficiency is proposed.Simulink simulation experiments results verify that the SNR of the signal itself is improved by 3 dB only when the proposed necessary conditions are satisfied,otherwise the SNR remains unchanged or deteriorated;furthermore,the combination efficiency is in accordance with the results of the proposed tolerance analysis method.
