Consistency Evaluation of Thematic Elements of Forest,Grassland and Shrubland for Three 10-meter Global Land Cover Products in Northwest China
The land use/land cover information in Northwest China has an important impact on global cli-mate change and ecological environment protection. Therefore,it is important to timely grasp the spatial consistency of several high-resolution land cover products currently published. In this study, three 10-me-ter global land cover products were utilized, including FROM-GLC,ESA,and ESRI.Their differences in the accuracy and spatial pattern of thematic elements of forest, grassland and shrubland were analyzed by the methods of area comparison,per-pixel spatial overlay, absolute accuracy evaluation based on sample points and so on.The results are as following:(1)The overall accuracy of FROM-GLC products is the highest(83.74%),followed by ESA products(68.30%),while the overall accuracy of ESRI products is the lowest(52.80%).(2)The spatial consistency of the three products for the forest, grassland and shru-bland is low,and the proportion of completely consistent area is 41.67%,which is mainly distributed in the eastern part of the study area;the distribution of completely inconsistent regions is scattered, and the land cover types in these regions are more complex with higher surface spatial heterogeneity.(3)The spatial consistency of the three products for forest type is high, and the discriminant difference between grassland and shrubland types is large. In general, the accuracy of grassland, shrubland and other vegeta-tion types needs to be further improved.
