Observational Study of Variable Stars in Open Cluster NGC 7789 Based on 50BiN Telescope
Based on the long-term photometric observation data obtained by 50BiN telescope in China West Normal University,19 variable stars are found in the 20'x20'field of view in and around open clus-ter NGC 7789,among which 10 variable stars are newly discovered in this observation.A preliminary property analysis of these 19 variable stars as cluster members was based on their positions on the color-magnitude diagram of NGC 7789,the membership probabilities of cluster members and Gaia parallax. The results reveal that 1 7 of the variable stars are likely to be cluster members, while the other 2 might be field stars. In accordance with the shape of their light curves, the length of their periods, and their positions on the color-magnitude diagram,a preliminary classification of these 19 variable stars is carried out.The re-sults indicate that 13 of them are short-period variables, comprising of 3 δ Scuti stars,7 eclipsing bina-ries,and 3 variables of unknown types. The remaining 6 variable stars are classified as long-period varia-bles.This study has expanded the sample size of variable stars in star clusters and laid a foundation for conducting asteroseismology research on individual variable star and statistical study on variable stars in star clusters.
