Relationship between red blood corpuscular volume distribution width/platelet ratio and recurrence and metastasis in patients with advanced gastric cancer after chemotherapy
Objective:To investigate the relationship between the red blood corpuscular volume distribution width(RDW-CV)/platelet ratio and the recurrence and metastasis of patients with advanced gastric cancer after chemotherapy. Methods:The clinical data of 110 patients with advanced gastric cancer who received chemotherapy from the Fourth People's Hospital of Shangqiu from November 2020 to April 2022 were collected for a retrospective study. They were divided into occurrence group and non-occurrence group according to the recurrence and metastasis within 6 months after chemotherapy.A questionnaire was designed to collect the basic data of all patients, such as age, weight, pathological type, location of primary lesion, and previous operation history,by consulting the medical records and follow-up data of patients with advanced gastric cancer. The blood routine, albumin, total protein and creatinine were collected and compared in all patients with advanced gastric cancer at 4 weeks after chemotherapy. The RDW-CV/platelet count(PLT)value was calculated, and the relationship between RDW-CV/PLT ratio and recurrence and metastasis of patients with advanced gastric cancer chemotherapy was analyzed. Results:In 110 patients with advanced gastric cancer,61 cases(55.45%)had recurrence and metastasis within 6 months after chemotherapy. The level of PLT in the occurrence group was significantly higher than that in the non-occurrence group, and the level of RDW-CV/PLT was significantly lower than that in the non-occurrence group(P<0.05).There was no statistic significant difference between the two groups in age, body weight, pathological type and primary lesion location(P>0.05).The results of point binary correlation showed that PLT was positively correlated with recurrence and metastasis in patients with advanced chemotherapy of gastric cancer(r>0,P<0.05),while RDW-CV/PLT was negatively correlated with recurrence and metastasis(r<0,P<0.05).The subject working characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn. The results showed that the area under the curve(AUC)value of RDW-CV/PLT to predict the recurrence and metastasis of patients with advanced chemotherapy of gastric cancer was 0.754,which had a certain predictive effect.Conclusion:RDW-CV/PLT is related to the recurrence and metastasis of patients with advanced chemotherapy of gastric cancer. The smaller the RDW-CV/PLT value, the greater the possibility of recurrence and metastasis.
