Impact of dexmedetomidine on sedative and analgesic effects and cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy
Objective:To observe the impact of dexmedetomidine on sedative and analgesic effects and cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods:Sixty elderly patients with cholecystolithiasis who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the hospital from October 2020 to August 2023 were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into the control group and the observation group using the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given combined intravenous-inhalation anesthesia, while the observation group was given anesthesia with dexmedetomidine on the basis of the anesthesia of control group.Sedative effects, analgesic effects, and postoperative cognitive function in the two groups were compared. Results:Sedative effect, analgesic effect, and postoperative cognitive function in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Applying dexmedetomidine to elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy can achieve significant sedative and analgesic effects, with less influence on postoperative cognitive function.
