Therapeutic effect of Salmeterol and ticasone aerosol in the treatment of respiratory failure in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of salmeterol and ticasone aerosol in the adjuvant treatment of respiratory failure in elderly patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD).Methods:84 elderly patients with COPD and respiratory failure admitted to our hospital from August 2020 to October 2022 were prospectively selected and randomly divided into two groups with 42 cases each. The control group was treated with non-invasive ventilation, and the observation group was treated with salmeterol and ticasone aerosol. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The clinical effects of the two groups were observed and recorded. Before and after treatment, pulmonary function detector was used to detect the lung function related indexes of the two groups of patients. These include Inspiratory Capacity(IC),Forced Expiratory Volume In One Second(FEV1),and Forced Vital capacity(Forced Vital capacity)Capacity,FVC);Before and after treatment,COPD self-assessment Test(CAT)was used to evaluate the quality of life of patients in both groups. Results:The total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in FVC,FEV1,IC level and CAT score between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,FVC,FEV1 and IC levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and CAT scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Salmeterol and ticasone aerosol can improve the lung function and quality of life of elderly patients with COPD respiratory failure, and the overall curative effect is good, worthy of promotion.
