Effect of the third generation cephalosporin combined with adrenocortical hormone on the levels of serum NSE,PCT and IL-12 in neonates with suppurative meningitis
Objective:To investigate the effect of the third generation cephalosporin and adrenocortical hormone on the levels of neuron-specific enolase(NSE),procalcitonin(PCT)and interleukin-12(IL-12)in neonates with suppurative meningitis(PM).Methods:102 children with PM admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were selected as the research subjects,and were randomly divided into combination group and control group using a random number table method,with 51 patients in each group.The control group was treated with cefotaxime sodium,while the combination group was treated with dexamethasone sodium phosphate on the basis of the control group.The clinical efficacy,clinical symptoms,improvement time of laboratory indexes,cerebrospinal fluid biochemical indexes(white blood cell count(WBC),protein,glucose),serum NSE,PCT,IL-12,soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)levels and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results:The total effective rate of clinical treatment in the combination group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the recovery time of cerebrospinal fluid,disappearance time of meningeal stimulation,fever reduction time,disappearance time of intracranial pressure and recovery time of peripheral blood leukocytes in combination group were shorter than those in control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the WBC and protein levels in the combination group were lower than those in the control group,while glucose levels were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the serum levels of NSE,PCT,IL-12 and sICAM-1 in combination group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Cefotaxime sodium combined with dexamethasone sodium phosphate is effective in the treatment of PM,and the serum levels of NSE,PCT,IL-12 and sICAM-1 in children with PM are significantly reduced after treatment.
