Study on temporomandibular joint disorders in endodontic patients after root canal treatment
Objective:To investigate the occurrence of Temporomandibular disorders(TMD)in endodontic patients after root canal therapy. Methods:The clinical data of 110 patients with endodontic disease who underwent root canal treatment in our hospital from February 2021 to February 2023 were retrospectively collected and analyzed.According to the incidence of TMD after treatment, they were divided into occurrence group(n=35)and non-occurrence group(n=75).To analyze the related factors affecting temporomandibular joint disorders after root canal treatment in endodontic patients. Results:TMD occurred in 35 of 110 patients after treatment, the incidence was 31.82%(35/110).There were significant differences in CPSS score, second molar, continuous mouth opening time>1 h,hemimastication ratio and CPSS score between the two groups(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in other data between the two groups(P>0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that TMD after root canal treatment was associated with female, second molar, continuous mouth opening time>1 h,hemimastication and high CPSS score(OR>1,P<0.05).Conclusion:After endodontic root canal treatment, female, second molar, mouth opening time>1 h,hemimastication and high CPSS score may increase the risk of TMD.
