Expression of Versican,NF-κB and MMP-9 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics
Objective:To observe the expressions of Versican, nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9)protein and mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue and their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics. Methods:Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization were used to detect the expressions of Versican,NF-κB and MMP-9 protein and mRNA in 47 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and paired adjacent normal esophageal mucosal tissues, and their correlations with clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed. The relationship and the correlation between the three molecules were analyzed. Results:The positive rates of Versican,NF-κB,and MMP-9 protein and mRNA expression in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues were significantly higher than that in paired normal esophageal mucosal tissue adjacent to cancer(P<0.05);The high expression of Versican,NF-κB,MMP-9 protein and mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues was related to deeper invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, and later TNM stage(P<0.05),but was not related to gender, age, and tissue grade;in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue, the protein and mRNA levels of Versican and NF-κB,Versican were all positively correlated(P<0.05).Conclusion:The high expression of Versican,NF-κB and MMP-9 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is closely related to tumor formation, invasion and metastasis, and the three molecules are correlated, which lays the foundation for us to further explore the potential mechanisms of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma invasion and metastasis.
