Epidemiological characteristics and drug resistance of gonococcal infection in patients with urogenital tract infection
Objective:To investigate gonococcal infection's prevalence and drug resistance in urogenital tract infection. Methods:A total of 82 patients with urinary and reproductive tract infections admitted to our hospital from April 2021 to April 2023 were selected.Reproductive tract secretions were collected to detect Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and the positive specimens were subjected to drug sensitivity testing. The epidemiological and antibiotic resistance characteristics of Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection in urogenital tract infections were analyzed. Results:Among 82 patients with urogenital tract infection,35 cases were positive for gonococcus, and the infection rate was 42.68%.The incidence of gonococcal infection was 56.60%(30/53)in males and 17.24%(5/29)in females. There was a significant difference in gonococcal infection rate among different sex patients with urogenital tract infection(P<0.05).The highest gonococcal infection rate was 53.85%in patients aged 21-30,47.05%in patients aged 31-40,and 33.33%in patients aged 41-50,respectively.There was a significant statistical difference in the gonococcal infection rate in patients with urogenital tract infection at different ages(P<0.05).Gonococcal infection rate increased yearly in 2021(32.14%),2022(44.19%),and 2023(63.64%),but there was no significant statistical difference in patients with urogenital tract infection in different years(P>0.05).The results of the drug sensitivity test showed that the resistance rate of gonococcus to penicillin(65.71%),tetracycline(91.43%),and ciprofloxacin(97.14%)was high. The sensitivity to cefoxitin, cefotaxime, cefixime, and cefuroxime was the best, all of which were 100%,followed by spectinomycin(94.29%),azithromycin(91.43%)and ceftriaxone sodium(77.14%).Conclusion:The gonococcal infection rate in patients with urogenital tract infection in this region is high and increasing yearly.Males and aged 21-40 years old are in the high-risk groups for infection. The resistance of gonococcal to different antibacterial drugs is different.
