Changes in serum levels of 25(OH)D3,Mg2+,and LDL-C at admission in patients with acute ischemic stroke and their value in predicting short-term outcomes
Objective:To investigate the changes in serum levels of 25 hydroxyvitamin D3[25 hydroxyvitamin D3,25-(OH)D3],magnesium(Mg2+),and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS)upon admission, and the value of predicting recent outcomes. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 67 AIS patients and 60 healthy individuals admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to November 2023.The differences in serum 25(OH)D3,Mg2+,and LDL-C levels between the two groups were compared;Follow up for 3 months after discharge to evaluate the recent outcome of AIS using the modified Rankin scale(mRS).Compare the differences in the above indicators among different prognostic groups and analyze their predictive value using ROC curves and Area Under the Curve(AUC).Results:The serum levels of 25(OH)D3 and Mg2+in the AIS group were lower than those in the healthy group, while the LDL-C levels were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05);AIS patients were divided into a poor prognosis group(n=29)and a good prognosis group(n=38)after a 3-month follow-up.The poor prognosis group had lower serum 25(OH)D3 and Mg2+levels than the good prognosis group, and higher LDL-C levels than the good prognosis group(P<0.05);ROC analysis showed that the AUC values of serum 25(OH)D3,Mg2+,and LDL-C,both individually and in combination, were 0.784,0.806,0.884,and 1.000,respectively,which have certain value in predicting the recent outcomes of AIS patients(P<0.05)and predicting adverse outcomes(P<0.05).Conclusion:AIS patients often exhibit a decrease in serum 25(OH)D3 and Mg2+levels,as well as an increase in LDL-C levels, which has certain value in predicting recent outcomes.
