Analysis of the current situation and associated factors of adult herpes zoster in Ganzhou area
Objective:To explore the current situation of adult herpes zoster in Ganzhou area and analyze its associated factors.Methods:A total of 150 patients with herpes zoster treated in Shangyou County People's Hospital,Jiangxi,and 150 healthy controls who underwent health examination in physical examination department of Shangyou County People's Hospital were enrolled as herpes zoster group and healthy group between January 2022 and December 2023,respectively.The general data of all subjects were compared,including gender,age,nationality,mechanical trauma,systemic diseases(such as history of diabetes,kidney disease,fever,hypertension,etc.),combined tumors,contact history of herpes zoster patients,vaccination history,recent mental stress/fatigue,use of immunosuppressants and corticosteroids in the past three months,etc.Logistic regression analysis was conducted to analyze the associated factors of adult herpes zoster in Ganzhou.Results:In the 150 patients with herpes zoster,main clinical symptoms were as follows:low-grade fever,upper sensation and neuralgia(mainly on severe pain).There was no significant difference in gender,nationality,contact history of herpes zoster or recent heavy mental stress/fatigue between herpes zoster group and healthy group(P>0.05).The age of patients in herpes zoster group was older than that in healthy group,and proportions of mechanical trauma history,diabetes mellitus history,kidney disease,fever,hypertension,tumor history,vaccination history and use of immunosuppressants/corticosteroids(in the last 3 months)were higher than those in healthy group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that history of mechanical trauma,history of diabetes mellitus,vaccination history and use of immunosuppressants/corticosteroids(in the last 3 months)were risk factors of herpes zoster onset(P<0.05).Conclusion:History of mechanical trauma,history of diabetes,history of vaccination and use of immunosuppressants/corticosteroids(nearly 3 months)are risk factors related to the onset of herpes zoster,which can be used to formulate scientific strategies for residents to prevent and control herpes zoster.
