Insulin resistance and dynamic changes in serum ferritin levels in gestational diabetes mellitus:an association analysis based on a retrospective study
Objective:To retrospectively analyze the relationship between insulin resistance(IR)and serum ferritin(SF)levels in gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Methods:67 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)who underwent antenatal examination in our hospital from December 2022 to December 2023 were included in the observation group;Another 53 pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance were selected as control group. The FPG,2h PG,Hb,HbA1c,SF and HOMA-IR indices of the two groups in the first, second and third trimester of pregnancy were observed and compared,as well as the correlation between SF level and FPG,2h PG,Hb,HbA1c and HOMA-IR of the observation group. Results:The indexes of FPG,2h PG,Hb and HbA1c in the first, middle and third trimester of pregnant women in the same group showed an increasing trend, but there was no statistical significance(P>0.05).FPG,2h PG,Hb and HbA1c in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group in the first, middle and third trimester of pregnancy(P<0.05).SF levels in the first, middle and third trimesters of pregnancy in the same group showed an increasing trend, but there was no statistical significance(P>0.05).SF levels in early, middle and late pregnancy in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05).HOMA-IR index of women in the same group showed an increasing trend in early, middle and late pregnancy, but there was no statistical significance(P>0.05).HOMA-IR index of early, middle and late pregnancy in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).Correlation analysis was conducted between SF level of the observation group and FPG,2h PG,Hb,HbA1c level and HOMA-IR index, respectively, and all were positively correlated with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:The increase of SF level in the early, middle and late pregnancy of GDM patients is positively correlated with HOMA-IR index, and SF level is also closely correlated with several key pathophysiological processes of GDM.SF level has the potential to become one of the important indicators for the diagnosis of GDM.
