Research Progress on the construction methods of non-human primate and non-primate diabetes animal models
The research on animal models of diabetes at home and abroad is mainly focused on rabbits, rats, and mice, and its methods involve spontaneous animal models,transgenic,high-fat,and high-sugar diet induction, and chemical induction.Although rabbit and rodent models have made important contributions to the study of the mechanism of diabetes, their physiological structure and genetic background are still quite different from those of humans, which cannot well simulate the occurrence and development of human diabetes.Nonhuman primates(NHPs)have important metabolic similarities with humans, which makes them an ideal model for studying the mechanism of diabetes and preclinical trials. This review briefly describes the methods and research progress of the current major NHP diabetes model construction.
