The two T-shaped silk paintings unearthed from the No.1 and No.3 Han tombs at Mawangdui share the same shape and similarities in the overall layout and most objects in the paintings, but there are also some differences. Some of them are obvious, such as the images of the tomb owners in the earthly life section:the painting from Tomb No.1 depicts an old woman leaning on a cane, facing left;the painting from Tomb No.3 depicts a standing tall man facing the left, who wears a headgear and a long sword.Another example is the silk painting images of the tomb owners after ascending to the celestial world:owner of Tomb No.1 reborn as a young woman with long braid and a snake tail sitting in three quarters profile;owner of Tomb No.3 reborn as a young man with his left hand on hip and right hand pointing forward. Some of the differences are obscure, such as the images of the tomb owners in the Yellow Spring sections,in which they appear as corpses. The difference between the two paintings is the existence or absence of the tomb owner's corpse in it.The tomb No.3 painting conceals the image of the tomb owner's corpse, who was the son of Marquis Dai.
