A Review of Non-specific Immune Effect of Chinese Herbal Medicine on Animals in Aquaculture
Traditionally, antibiotics are used to prevent and control diseases in aquaculture, but the use of antibiotics is gradually being restricted due to their high toxicity, easy residues and tendency to cause bacterial drug resistance. In order to promote ecological farming, the development of green and safe Chines herbal medicines has attracted much attention in the aquaculture industry, with increase in related research. The Chinese herbal medicines is rich in active compositions acting on the multiple immune defenses of animals in aquaculture, mainly as feed additives and drugs for the prevention and treatment of diseases in animals in aquaculture. With the continuous expansion of related research and application, researchers have focused on the synergistic effects of various effective compositions, the exploration of drug targets and the optimal dosage of Chinese herbal medicines,as well as the use of molecular biology to investigate the immune regulatory mechanisms and related pathways of the active compositions of Chinese herbal medicines on the aquatic animals. In this paper, the promoting effect of Chinese herbal medicine on non-specific immunity of aquatic animals and related application research progress are reviewed in order to broaden the research and application of Chinese herbal medicine in aquaculture.
