Research Progress on Novel Virulence Factors of Edwardsiella piscicida
Edwardsiella piscicida(previously known as Edwardsiella tarda)infects a diverse range of important animals in aquaculture, causing huge economical losses in the global aquaculture industry.E.piscicida exhibits high environmental adaptability and resistance and induces a serious infection through typical intracellular parasitism, makes it a model strain for investigation of the virulence mechanism of aquatic pathogens. In the recent years, numerous novel virulence factors of E.piscicida have been identified in addition to typical virulence factors such as the T3SS/T6SS system. This paper mainly reviews the research on some novel virulence factors including escape host immunocidal factor,toxin-antitoxin,thioredoxin,and protease, and novel virulence regulators of E.piscicida bacterium in recent years,to provide helpful guidance for the research on the pathogenicity of E.piscicida.
