An Overview of Researches on Non-infectious Enteritis Models and Involved Pathological Mechanism in Fish
In aquaculture, the substitution of fish meal with vegetable protein sources causes the disruption of the intestinal barrier in fish, and further leads to growth inhibition and susceptibility of pathogen. As a result, intestinal inflammation often leads to disease outbreaks in cultured fish. The establishment of fish non-infectious enteritis models facilitates understanding of the mechanism for fish enteritis.Recently, the analysis of intestinal pathology using fish models gradually becomes the research frontier in both fish immunology and nutritional study.Various types of enteritis models in fish, including those in the model organism and commercial fish species, are reviewed for the involved mechanisms, including mucosal immunity, intestinal structure and microbial composition. It is expected that this paper could provide theoretical clues for both preventing and treating of fish enteritis and related symptom.
