Research on Aging and Rural Household Consumption from the Perspective of Digital Village——Evidence from the Index of Digital Rural County and the China Household Finance Survey
Under the background of the further aging of the population and the continuous sluggish domestic consumption demand,it has become important content for China to fully explore the consumption potential of rural families to enhance domestic demand and build the domestic cycle.Based on the matching data of Index of Digital Rural County 2018 and China Household Finance Survey, this paper empirically tests the influence of aging on rural household consump-tion,and further explores the moderating effect and heterogeneity of digital rural development on aging and rural household consumption. The result shows that:(1)Aging has a significantly negative influence on rural household consumption.(2)On the whole, digital rural development has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between aging and rural household consumption, but the negative moderating effect has group heterogeneity.Specifically, digital rural development alleviates the negative effect of aging on household consumption in northeast regions and households with subsistence allowances samples. The conclusion shows that:at present, the role of digital rural development in alleviating the negative impact of aging on household consumption in rural areas is limited, and promoting digital rural development from the perspective of protecting digitally vulnerable groups and increasing public services may be more conducive to promoting rural consumption.
