Study on the Impact of Multiple Chronic Conditions on Health-related Quality of Life of Chinese Elderly
Based on data from the 2018 China Health and Elderly Tracking Survey, the impact of the number of chronic diseases and multimorbidity patterns on health-related quality of life in older adults was explored.By using the European Five-Dimensional Health Scale(EQ-5D)as a measurement tool for health-related quality of life, the performance of older adults in five dimensions(mobility,self-care,daily activities,pain/discomfort,and anxiety/frustration)and the rank of each dimension were analyzed, and the health status of older adults was assessed by calculating the composite score. It was found that older adults with a higher number of chronic co-morbidities had lower health utility values. The difference in the degree of impact of the four chronic co-morbidity patterns of cardiometabolic, respiratory, visceral arthritis, and cogni-tive impairment on the health of older adults was significant(p<0.05).In the future,we should strengthen the early screening of older adults with multiple chronic diseases, especially those with visceral arthritis co-morbidities,and develop health management programs and interven-tions for older adults with multiple co-morbidities,so as to provide strategic recommendations for our country's active response to healthy aging and active health.
