The Spillover Effect of"996"Work Mode on Spouse's Mental Health——Empirical Research Based on CFPS2018
The negative effect of working overtime on individual mental health has been widely confirmed, but less research has explored the spillover effect of the"996"work mode, which is a high-intensity overtime,on the mental health of spouses in the family field. In order to analyze the impact of the"996"work mode on the spouse's mental health, this paper uses the CFPS2018 couple matching sample for analysis. The results show that:whether the wife or husband is in the"996"work mode,it will cause the other one's mental health level to decrease significantly, and the husband who works in"996"mode has a greater impact on the mental health of the wife.In terms of the influence mechanism, when the wife is in the"996"work mode,it will significantly reduce the husband's satisfaction with the wife's family economic contribution and housework contribution, which will then be passed on to mental health. At the same time, the husband's"996"work mode also affects the wife's mental health through both of the intermediary paths, and the relevant conclusions have passed the robustness test.Therefore,the"996"work mode will not only have an impact on the workers'own health but also have a spillover effect within the family, that is,affect the mental health of the spouse.
