The Influence of Endowment Insurance on the Selection of Aged Care by Older Adults——Evidence from CLASS
Against the backdrop of active aging, providing a range of care options for older adults has become a crucial means of enhancing their quality of life and moving away from the traditional family care model. The enhancement of endowment insurance has laid the groundwork for expanding the care options available to older adults and establishing a more diverse care model. This paper presents an empirical analysis of the impact of endowment insurance on the choice of aged care among older adults, using data from the China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey. The study finds that endowment insurance effectively promotes the choice of aged care among older adults,as demonstrated through multiple linear regression model and instrumental variables methods. The mechanism test shows that endowment insurance impacts the choices of aged care among older adults by changing traditional concepts of old-age support and increasing trust in the government. The heterogeneity test indicates that the effect of endowment insurance on the care choices of older adults varies depending on the region, household registration, and type of endowment insurance. The statement provides a valuable reference for promoting the implementation of the active aging strategy and achieving the goal of caring for older adults.
