The Effects of Differential Social Support on Life Satisfaction of Older Adults——The Dual Effects of Mediating and Moderating of Resilience
Based on the tracking data of the CLHLS from 2014 to 2018,this study explored the relationship among differential social support, psychological resilience, and life satisfaction of older adults. The study found that:first, diverse social support can help improve the life satisfaction of older adults, but there is no"differential effect"in the impact intensity between different support networks.Secondly, psychological resilience has a protective effect on the life satisfaction of older adults. The protective effect is more prominent among urban and low-income groups. Finally, psychological resilience plays both a partial mediating effect and a negative moderating effect between differential social support and life satisfaction.High psychological resilience can alleviate the relative negative effects of social support in weak relationships. In addition, under low psychological resilience, the"happiness effect"with diverse emotional supports exhibits a"differential intensity"of"emotional relationships—mixed relationships—instrumental relation-ships".The intensity of the"happiness effect"with diverse caregiving support follows the order of"instrumental relationships—emotional relationships—mixed relationships".To achieve the strategy of active aging,it is necessary to fully leverage the endogenous power of older adults.Building training programs to enhance the psychological resilience of the population throughout its entire life cycle, enhance the psychological resilience of older adults, and enhance their sense of well-being.
