Childbearing motivation refers to the internal drive sparked by an individual's need to reproduce(or not reproduce),which sustains and directs their childbearing(or non-child-bearing)behaviors.With societal development,the element of personal choice in fertility decisions has gradually increased.To better respondto the issue of China's low birth rate,it is necessary to examine and assess childbearing motivation as a psychological driving force behind reproductive behavior.Standardized measurement tools are essential for conducting in-depth and extensive research.Currently,there is significant progress in the development of childbearing motivation scales abroad,while the development of such scales in China is still in its nascent stage.Thus,this paper reviews existing international tools for measuring childbearing motivation,summarizing their development and characteristics.It also briefly introduces the current state of research on measuring childbearing motivation in China,providing a theoretical basis and empirical reference for developing localized childbearing motivation scales within the country.
