Clinical Observation of Modified Xiaochengqi Decoction Rectal Instillation in Relieving Opioid-related Constipa-tion
Objective To observe and evaluate the clinical advantages of rectal instillation of modified Xiaochengqi Decoction in relieving opioid-induced constipation(OIC).Methods A total of 80patients with opioid-related constipation were divided into experimental group and control group by random number table method, with 40cases in each group. The experimental group and the control group were treated with rectal instillation of modified Xiaochengqi Decoction and enema of Kaisailu once every other day. After 7days,the opioid-related constipation assessment scale score,TCM syndrome efficacy, bowel sound frequency and KPS(Karnofsky)quality of life score of tumor patients were compared. Results There were no significant differences in general data,opioid-related constipation assessment scale score,TCM syndrome score,KPS score and bowel sound frequency between the two groups before intervention(all P>0.05).A total of 79patients(40in the experimental group and 39in the control group)completed the study. After intervention, the total score of opioid constipation(34.65±4.41),the dimension of defecation regu-larity(8.53±1.71),the dimension of defecation outcome(16.05±2.76)and the score of TCM syndrome(14.55±3.71)in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(37.21±4.72),(9.54±1.98),(17.38±2.98),(16.38± 2.48),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the KPS score(56.00±19.32)and bowel sound frequency(3.22±0.42)in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group(47.69±15.47)and(2.50±0.42),and the differences were statistically significant(t=-2.589,7.519,all P>0.05);no adverse reactions related to rectal instillation of modified Xiaochengqi decoction were found. Conclusion Rectal instillation of traditional Chinese medicine can effectively im-prove OIC,improve treatment satisfaction and quality of life, safe and effective.
