Effects of TCM packaging combined with massage on limb function and quality of life in patients with spastic hemi-plegia after stroke
Objective To explore the effects of TCM packaging combined with massage on limb function and quality of life in patients with spastic hemiplegia after stroke(SHAS).Methods A total of 82patients with SHAS admitted to the hospital were en-rolled as the research objects between August 2020and July 2023.According to random number table method, they were divided into control group(41cases)and study group(41cases).The control group was given routine rehabilitation nursing, while study group was given TCM packaging combined with massage on basis of control group for 2w.The scores of TCM syndromes, modified Ashworth scale(MAS),limb function recovery[National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),the Fugl-Meyer motor as-sessment(FMA),modified Barthel index(MBI)]and stroke specific quality of life scale(SS-QOL)were compared between the two groups. Results After intervention, scores of TCM syndromes(unconsciousness, hemiplegia, deviation of mouth and tongue, stiff tongue, hemisensory)and total score of secondary syndromes were decreased in both groups, which were lower in study group than control group(P<0.05).After intervention,MAS scores of upper and lower limbs, and NIHSS scores were de-creased,while scores of FMA and MBI were increased in both groups, and improvement of the above scores was better in study group than control group(P<0.05).After intervention, scores of SS-QOL(upper limb function,emotion,self-care activity,ac-tivity of daily living)were increased in both groups, which were higher in study group than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The intervention effect of TCM packaging combined with massage is significant in SHAS patients, which can effectively improve TCM symptoms, relieve spasm and nerve defects, promote the recovery of limb function and daily living ability, and improve quality of life.
