The theory of"snuggling pus and growing flesh"is one of the unique therapeutic concepts in Chinese medicine and surgery,and has achieved remarkable therapeutic effects in the treatment of chronic hard-to-heal sores.Through studying the historical origin and contemporary literature of the theory of"snuggling pus and growing flesh",we have explored the connotation of Chinese medicine in snuggling pus and growing flesh,and gained a deeper understanding of"snuggling"and"pus".The theo-ry of"Snuggling Pus and Growing Flesh"is similar to the"Wet Healing"therapy of modern medicine,both emphasize the need for moist soil generated by qi,blood and fluids to promote the repair of sores.Through the guidance of the theory of"snuggling pus and growing flesh",we study the role of"pus"in different stages of sores,and further discuss the historical literature,clas-sification and commonly used external therapeutic prescriptions of the drugs for removing putrefaction and regenerating muscles,with a view to providing theoretical guidance for the treatment of sores.
