Relationship between VEGF,HGI,carotid atherosclerosis and TCM syndrome differentiation in type 2diabetes melli-tus
Objective:To investigate the relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),glycosylated hemoglo-bin variation index(HGI),carotid atherosclerosis and TCM syndrome differentiation in type 2diabetes mellitus(T2DM)patients.Methods:The clinical data of 146T2DM patients received from the hospital from June 2022to June 2024were retrospectively analyzed, and the basic data, serum VEGF,HGI and carotid intim-media thickness(IMT)of patients with different syndrome types were com-pared.Results:In146T2DM patients,Qi-Yin deficiency group accounted for the highest proportion(43.15%),followed by Yin de-ficiency heat excess syndrome(26.03%),excessive phlegm turbidity syndrome(17.12%)and blood stasis syndrome accounted for a relatively small proportion(13.70%).There were statistically significant differences in VEGF,HGI and IMT among the four syndrome types(P<0.05).VEGF and HGI of blood stasis syndrome were higher than those of the other three types of syndrome,VEGF and HGI of Qi-yin deficiency syndrome were higher than that of Yin deficiency heat excessive syndrome, and VEGF and HGI of phlegm-turbid obstructing syndrome were higher than that of Qi Yin deficiency syndrome and Yin deficiency heat excessive syndrome, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The IMT of excessive phlegm turbidity syndrome was higher than that of the other three syndrome types, and the IMT of blood stasis syndrome and qi Yin deficiency syndrome was higher than that of Yin deficiency heat accumulation syndrome, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion:Qi-Yin deficiency is the most common type in T2DM patients.VEGF,HGI and carotid atherosclerosis are related to excessive phlegm turbidity and blood stasis. The study on their relationship can provide reference for TCM syndrome differentiation and classification.
