Abstract
Name is a common phenomenon in both Chinese and western cultures. This paper interprets cultural similarities and differ⁃ences between English and Chinese names. Besides,this paper analyzes the reasons of their difference. Chinese names are influenced by collectivism and ethical culture while English names are impacted by individualism and Christian Culture.
