Syntactic ambiguity is a common and relatively complicated phenomenon in English. This paper aims to propose a modular approach to a resolution to syntactic ambiguity by giving an integrated psycho-linguistic account to linguistic and non-linguistic factors af-fecting the processing and resolving of syntactic ambiguity. A modular resolution based on multiple constraints is proposed;a resolution to syntactic ambiguity is facilitated compared to when constraints conflicted;finally, the paper discusses the importance of these constraint interactions in the modular model.
