Digital Technology Adoption,Online Consumption Habit and Peasant Household Consumption Structure Upgrading:An Empirical Study Based on 2014-2020 CFPS Panel Data
Digital technology is increasingly becoming an important gripper to lever peasant household consumption upgrading,assist in rural revitalization and achieve agricultural and rural modernization.Based on Chinese Family Panel Studies(CFPS)data from 2014 to 2020,this study empirically analyzes the impact of peasant household's digital technology adoption on consumption structure upgrading.The research results indicate that firstly,peasant household's digital technology adoption can promote their consumption structure upgrading,and this conclusion still holds after endogeneity treatment and robustness testing;secondly,it is found by heterogeneity analysis that the peasant households at the middle and middle-low consumption levels,located in the eastern and western regions and with high-frequency internal family communication,have a stronger upgrading effect of digital technology adoption on their consumption structure;and finally,the mechanism analysis indicates that peasant households'adopting digital technology upgrades their consumption structure by cultivating and deepening their online consumption habits.Accordingly,policy recommendations are proposed from such aspects as increasing peasant households'willingness to adopt digital technology from both internal and external family dimensions through multiple channels,cooperating with consumption education activities to convey them beneficial consumption concepts,exploring new models of rural logistics and distribution while actively guiding and promoting the development of rural e-commerce.
