Analysis and Treatment of Excessive Total Hydrocarbons in the Oil of an UHV Converter Transformer
An accident of excessive total hydrocarbons in the oil of a certain ultra-high voltage(UHV)converter transformer led to its forced shutdown and return to factory for maintenance.Through the methods such as oil chromatography analysis, prolonged no-load test, partial discharge test, ultrasonic locating and disassembly inspection, the causes of the fault are analyzed. It is ulti-mately determined that the accident of excessive total hydrocarbons in the oil of the converter transformer is related to two over-heating points caused by triangular silicon steel sheets and interleaved wire pseudo soldering. The corresponding treatment mea-sures are implemented, and then the converter transformer successfully passes the delivery test, which provides reference for the analysis and treatment of similar faults.
