In order to systematically analyze the characteristics of grain size and sedimentary dynamic envi-ronment of sediments around Liugong Island,on the basis of fully collecting the previous data,combining with the test results,characteristics of the sediment types and grain size have been studied summarized.It is showed that there are four main sediment types in the area,namely(g)M-gravel mud,gM-gravel mud,sZ-sandy silt and Z-silt.Among them,sandy silt and silt are the most widely distributed.The av-erage particle size in the area increases from southeast to northwest.The sorting ability is poor,the skew-ness belongs to the positive skewness category,and the peak is mainly medium type.The overall sediment in the area is located in the upper left part of the triangle diagram,and there are few sediments at both ends of the clay and silt.It is indicated that the overall hydrodynamic conditions in the area are weak.
