Effect of substitution rate on the performance of a medium speed dual-fuel engine of ship
In order to improve the fuel economy and emission characteristics of a medium speed marine diesel engine,a diesel/natural gas dual-fuel engine with a natural gas injection device in the intake mani-fold was studied.Based on the simulation software GT-Power,the in-cylinder pressure, fuel economy and emission characteristics of a marine dual-fuel engine in pure diesel mode and dual-fuel mode are ana-lyzed under the working condition of propeller propulsion characteristics. The results show that compared with pure diesel mode, the peak in-cylinder pressure and NOx emission of dual-fuel mode are reduced, and the NOx emission is reduced by up to 41.3%.With the increase of natural gas substitution rate, the fuel economy of the engine increases by 16.08%.Overall,the dual-fuel mode engine performance has improved.
