Experimental study on bending performance of imitation wooden beams reinforced with CFRP sheets
In order to study the bending performance of imitation wooden beams reinforced with CFRP sheets,four-point bending tests were carried out on 3 imitation wooden beams reinforced with 1,2 and 4 layers of CFRP sheets and 1 original beam without CFRP sheet, respectively,to analyze the effects of the number of layers of CFRP sheets on the failure form, bending capacity, deformation and strain develop-ment of imitation wooden beams. The results show that pasting CFRP sheets changes the failure mode of imitation wooden beams. The bending failure occurs in imitation wooden beams without reinforcement and imitation wooden beams pasted with 1 layer of CFRP sheet, while shear failure occurs in imitation wooden beams pasted with 2 and 4 layers of CFRP sheets. The flexural capacity and deformation resistance of im-itation wooden beams can be effectively improved by pasting CFRP sheets, they increase with the number of layers of pasted CFRP sheets, but the improvement magnitude decreases gradually. The compressive strength of imitation wooden material is brought into full play by CFRP sheet, and the cross-section strain accords with the assumption of plain section. This study provides the experimental basis for the theoretical derivation of imitation wooden beams reinforced with CFRP sheets.
