Research on Melting and Casting Technology of 7M85 Aluminum Alloy Ultra-large Diameter Billet
Alcoa used high-strength,high-quenched 7M85 aluminum alloy for Airbus in the manufacture of integral and large-scale forgings for A380 passenger aircraft.but because of its higher concentration alloy composition,and large size casting rod casting molding is difficult,high quality control requirements,aluminum smelting and casting enterprises in the same industry basically have no experience in industrial mass production and reference,this paper focuses on the production and casting practice of substantive multi-furnace,completed the exploration of casting molding,the analysis of the segregation law of the macro-chemical composition(Cu,Mg,Zn,Ti,Zr)of large-size high-concentration alloy ingot,the detection,analysis and verification of the homogenization effect and microstructure,respectively.finally,reasonable casting parameters such as casting speed,temperature and cooling strength were determined.it is detected that 7M85 alloy has serious macroscopic composition segregation,large thickness of low-double segregation layer and second-order grain size under the casting process.through the comparison of homogenization experiments of different systems,the most suitable homogenization process is obtained.it provides industrial practice and reference for the industry in the production of super-large 7M85 alloy round ingot casting.
