The Impact of Digital Economy Innovation on the Urban Specialized Division of Labor in Global Value Chain in China
Against the backdrop of accelerating the construction of a new development pattern of"dual circula-tion",the urban specialized division of labor in the global value chain(GVC)in China is a key link for China to deeply participate in the global economic cycle and promote industries to move towards the high-end of the GVC.It can accurately reflect the comprehensive strength and international competitiveness of a city in China's participation in the GVC.As a key link in achieving industrial transformation and upgrading,digital economy innovation can stimulate new businesses and models,promote digital transformation of industries,facilitate the adjustment of do-mestic and international value division,and further promote the specialization of China's urban GVC.How to objec-tively evaluate the impact of digital economy innovation on the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC,and promote China to enhance its international competitiveness by deepening the specialized division of labor in ur-ban GVC is an urgent problem to be studied.Using data from 277 cities in China from 2010 to 2022 as a research sample,this study examines the impact of digital economic innovation on the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC.The mediating effect model is used to verify the mechanism of digital economic innovation on the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC.It researches the heterogeneity between the two.The results are as follows.Firstly,digital economy innova-tion can promote the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC.Secondly,digital economy innovation can achieve the above effect by promoting technological progress,reducing trade costs,improving human capital levels,and optimizing data factor allocation.Thirdly,the role of digital economic innovation is more significant in cities with high innovation levels and high economic development levels.The contributions of this paper are probably as follows.Firstly,it examines the direct impact of digital econo-my innovation on the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC.This not only helps to improve research on the driving factors of the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC but also provides empirical evidence for exploring the economic effects of digital economy innovation development.Secondly,a theoretical analysis frame-work is constructed in four dimensions:technological progress,trade costs,human capital level,and data factor al-location.The mechanism of the role of digital economic innovation in the specialized division of labor in China's ur-ban GVC is analyzed,providing new ideas for leveraging the empowering effect of digital economic innovation on the specialized division of labor in China's urban GVC.
