Effects of Different Dietary Levels of Pfaffia Paniculata Leaves on Growth and Gastrointestinal Tract Development of Lingshan Chickens in the Starter Stage
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different levels of pfaffia paniculata leaves on the growth and gastrointestinal tract development of Lingshan chickens.A total of 240 seven-day old healthy Lingshan chickens with similar body weight were selected and randomly divided into four treatment groups with six replicates of 10 birds for 35 days. The treatments were a basal diet supplemented with 0,1%,2%,and 3%pfaffia paniculata leaves, respectively. The results showed as follows:1)The final weight of Lingshan chickens did not differ among treatments(P>0.05).The chest width index of all supplemental groups was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference among the supplemental groups(P>0.05).Other body size values such as diameter length were not affected by the dietary supplementation of pfaffia paniculata leaves(P>0.05).2)The pfaffia paniculata leaves supplementation had no significant effects on the organ indices and stomach, duodenum and ileum correction coefficients of Lingshan chickens(P>0.05).3)Based on the regression analysis, the chest depth showed the quadratic curve as the increase of the supplemental level of pfaffia paniculata leaves.According to the fitting equation, the appropriate supplemental levels of pfaffia paniculata leaves was 1.32%.In conclusion, the dietary appropriate supplementation of pfaffia paniculata leaves had the positive effects on the growth and development of Lingshan chickens at 2 to 6 weeks of age.The recommendation level are 1.32%.
