Architectural Knowledge Production Under the National Scientific Research Funding of China Based on a Study of Funded Papers in Architectural Journal

摘要
近年来自科基金研究逐渐成为建筑学院教师的核心学术活动,不仅极大地改变了建筑学的知识生产方式,还对教师的个人学术发展具有决定性影响.以《建筑学报》的基金论文为对象,文章试图从倾向性、代表性和严谨性三个方面探讨建筑学中自科基金相关的知识生产的特点.研究发现:自科基金在支持对象上更倾向于那些属于"科学"范畴的研究,而不能覆盖建筑学的其他重要问题;建筑类期刊的基金论文比例远低于理工类学科更近一步证明基金论文相关的研究只是建筑学知识生产的一部分;而论文写作出现的不严谨现象说明建筑学学者在遵循学术范式方面具有明显的差距.据此,文章近一步指出将基金研究作为建筑学学者、特别是从事设计实践和教学的教师的学术评价核心标准存在一定的局限性.
Abstract
In recent years,research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC)have gradually become the core academic activities of architecture faculty,which has greatly changed the modes of architectural knowledge production and also exerted a decisive impact on faculty career development.Based on a study on NSFC-funded papers published by Architectural Journal,the paper discusses three characteristics of NSFC related knowledge production in architecture:preference,representativeness and rigor.Correspondingly,there are three findings.First,NSFC tends to support those projects which fall into the category of scientific research and does not cover all areas of architectural issues.Second,the proportion of funded papers in architectural journals is far lower than that in science and engineering disciplines,which is a clear indication that funded research only plays a partial role in architectural knowledge production.Third,the lack of rigorousness in the writing of papers shows that architectural scholars have a clear gap in following the academic paradigm.In conclusion,the paper makes a further point that there are certain limitations using the achievement in NSFC-funded research as the core evaluation criteria for architectural scholars,especially those working in the field of design practice and teaching.
