On Two Diagrams from Anderson's ArchivesAn Unfinished Project of Stanford Anderson
While reviewing Stanford Anderson's archives,a box originating from the 1970s caught the authors'attention.Surrounding a 1977 ACLS research project application, these documents revealed an unfinished and ambitious undertaking in the field of architectural historiography and intellectual history.Unlike the more well-known research projects that preceded and followed it,the contents of this particular research archive seemed to have been left incomplete by Anderson during his lifetime and therefore never fully published. The ideas within it were only partially expressed in some of his teachings. This article aims to explore the interpretation of two particular diagrams, attempting to introduce and contextualize this project within the historical backdrop of the 1970s,and consequently,to use this project as a clue to understanding Anderson's entire academic career.
