Research on the causes of falling accidents in building construction based on SNA:Taking East China as an example
Clearly understanding the key causes and their correlations in falling accidents during construction can effectively prevent such accidents, providing valuable insights for accident prevention and control measures. This study collectes 145 investigation reports on falling accidents in the construction sector in the eastern region of China from 2012 to 2021.Employing text mining,25 causative factors are identified and subjected to structured processing.By employing Social Network Analysis(SNA)and Ucinet software,a cause-and-effect network of falling accidents in building construction is constructed and the overall network density, individual network density, network centrality, and core-periphery structure are analyzed. The results reveal that seven factors, including inadequate implementation of main responsibilities, insufficient protective measures, weak supervision and inspection, inadequate on-site management, insufficient safety education and training, weak safety awareness, and improper use of protective equipment, are crucial causes of falling accidents. These factors should be prioritized in safety prevention and control efforts for construction work at height to effectively reduce the occurrence of such accidents.
