Study on regulation characteristics of the plate type seawater desalination unit under different load conditions
Traditional plate-type seawater desalination unit has no regulating structure, which is challenging to adapt to the variable load of marine diesel engine.Studying on its regulation characteristics under different load conditions is of great significance to develop efficient seawater desalination units.Adjusting the variable load of the unit plays a key role in broadening its operating temperature range. This study adopts the method of replacing the fixed jet pump with an adjustable jet pump to achieve variable load regulation. This model is validated by scaling experiments that determined the minimum seawater concentration ratio. The thermodynamic equation and the jet pump equation are coupled to form a variable load regulation model for the plate-type seawater desalination unite, which is established by introducing the liquid level variable of concentrated seawater to analyze its regulation characteristics under different loads. The findings demonstrate that by adjusting the spindle position, the state parameters of the ejecting fluid in the adjustable jet pump can be effectively adjusted. The operational temperature range of the heat source for the desalination unit expanded from 66~84℃ in fixed pump setups to 29~84℃ with the adjustable pump, which proves the higher thermal efficiency of the one with the adjustable jet pump.
