Interpretation of Foreign Novel Translation in the Late Qing Dynasty from the Perspective of Translation-communication Studies
Re-understanding the history of Chinese translation is not only the requirement of the moderni-zation of Chinese translation studies,but also helps to understand and cope with the complicated translation phenomena of today.The foreign novel translation in the late Qing Dynasty is a very special page in the history of Chinese translation.From the perspective of translation-communication studies,this paper adopts a com-prehensive historical analysis method to restore translation activities in the social and cultural background of the late Qing Dynasty,describes the historical role of the central elements of the main translation and commu-nication links,and discovers and explains the subversive and restrictive role of the communication subjects,the full release of translators'initiative and the promotion of the media in the translation of foreign novels in the late Qing Dynasty.Specific translation activities must be consistent with the characteristics of the times in a specific period,and the study of translation history should be transformed into the study of translation in histo-ry,and the historical phenomena of translation should be interpreted from different perspectives to improve the reliability and validity of the study of translation history.
