Study on Collapse Process of Single Bubbles in Free Space
The collapse of bubbles and the release of pressure waves are classic and intricate problems.Due to the limited spatiotemporal resolution of experimental observation devices and the computational challenges in handling strong discontinuities in numerical simulations, the ideal bubble equation is generally used to estimate the pressure wave release during bubble collapse.Using a two-phase flow method based on state equations,in this paper a compressible numerical simulation of the single bubble collapse process is employed. The collapse of bubbles in free space and the generation of pressure waves are examined. It can be considered that the instantaneous release of pressure waves during bubble collapse is induced by water hammer impacts of fluid moving in different directions near the bubble wall.
