Progress on improving the modulation of insect breeding feed with wheat bran
As an effective method of bioconversion of organic wastes by saprophytic insects, the industrial breeding and deep processing utilization of saprophytic insects have already become a hotspot in the fields of environment, agriculture, and energy.Adding wheat bran could effectively improve the modulation effect and catalytic efficiency of insect feed.It could solve the problems of difficult self-fermentation of organic waste, poor nutritional value of feed, nutrient loss, and environmental pollution high carbon and nitrogen loss during the preparation of insect feed, while improving feed palatability and increasing insect protein production.Based on introducing the theoretical basis for improving the insect feed modulation using wheat bran, this work illustrates the impact of the unique nutritional composition, physical structure, and bacterial microbial structure of wheat bran on the physicochemical properties of insect feed.Furthermore, the mechanism of action was elucidated from the aspects of the perspectives of microbiology and characterization analysis. The process flow was elaborated for waste treatments with purposes of waste reduction,harmless,value-addition,and stabilization,as well as the potential and development trend of industrial application. The review will provide a useful theoretical foundation to support the efficient utilization of modulation of insect feed and promote the high-value transformation of agricultural wastes.
