Harvesting Date Influence on Fruit Quality of'Packham's Triumph'Pear
The quality of fruit is closely related to its harvest time. Therefore,it is significant to determine the optimal harvest time for fruit commercial value. We used'Pankham'as the test material to explore the influence of different harvesting periods on fruit quality, and expounds the influence of different harvest periods on fruit harvest and shelflife quality from the aspects of decay rate, weight loss rate, firmness, color difference, soluble solid content, organic acid content, and vitamin C content. The results showed that fruits harvested 160 days after flowering had a longer shelf life, but had slightly lower contents of soluble solid and vitamin C than those harvested 170 days after flowering.Fruits harvested 170 days after flowering had better color and flavor, but lower shelf life firmness than the 160-day fruits and ripened earlier. In order to meet the needs of long-distance transportation or to seek a longer shelflife,we can harvest near 160 days after flowering;we can harvest near 170 days after flowering for local sales.Clarifying the optimal harvest period for storage and sales of'Packham's Triumph',we can improve the fruit commodity value.
