Spatio-temporal Characteristics of Regional Differentiation of Vegetation Coverage on both Sides of the Hu Huanyong Line
Exploring the regional differentiation in vegetation cover across the"Hu Huanyong Line"holds significant implications for environmental conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.Based on MODIS-NDVI remote sensing data and related research data,we used the pixel dichotomy method to quantify the change of vegetation coverage between 2000 and 2020,and combined the slope analysis, spatial auto-correlation analysis, transfer matrix, and correlation analysis method to systematically analyze the dynamics of vegetation coverage on the east and west sides of"Hu Huanyong Line"and the potential impact of precipitation on it.The study found that the vegetation coverage in China showed significant spatial heterogeneity on both sides of the"Hu Huanyong Line",with the western region generally lower than that in the eastern region.Cold spots are predominantly located west of the line, while hot spots are mainly found to the east of the line.Although the national vegetation coverage has experienced local annual fluctuations over the past 21 years,an overall increasing trend is evident, with approximately 45%of areas have achieved the transition from low to high vegetation coverage.Specifically, the average annual growth rate of vegetation coverage in the west of"Hu Huanyong Line"was about 0.003 5/a,while that in the eastern region was 0.005 9/a.In the respective regions, the areas with significant vegetation growth accounted for 53.22%and 59.81%,respectively.Additionally,the correlation between annual precipitation and interannual vegetation coverage shows a spatial difference on both sides of the"Hu Huanyong Line",that is,the eastern region has a negative correlation, while the western region has a positive correlation. In summary, with the"Hu Huanyong Line"as the boundary, the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of vegetation coverage in China highlight the unique regional differentiation. This research provides an important basis for understanding the dynamic changes of vegetation ecosystems in China.
